This course will explore the role of INGOs in international relations as members of civil society. The course is opened by introducing INGOs as an actor in IR, exploring further its characteristics, ethics, and funding dillemmas. The class will then discuss theories on the involvement and existence of INGOs first, including Transnational Advocacy Network, Resource Mobilization, Regime theory, and Norm Internalization. Subsequently, the course will provide space for discussion on active INGOs and the issues, including environmental, human rights, health, development and women's rights.
